Career Profile

Ahn Yeon-seok lived in Seoul until he was six years old and his family moved to the South Gyeongsang Province because his father, a professor of selenodesy, was posted at a national university there. In his junior year in high school he decided to take up acting, so he followed his brother, who was studying another year to enter university, to Seoul and they lived together near the district of Samseong-dong.

While taking acting classes, the high schooler met a friend who would later work on the costume staff of film director Park Chan-wook. Remembering that he resembled actor Yoo Ji-tae, she gave him a call about auditioning for a role. So without having to pass out his resume, he made his acting debut as Yoo's younger counterpart in the acclaimed 2003 film Oldboy.

Upon graduation from Sejong University with a degree in Film Arts, he resumed his acting career in 2008. At his agency's recommendation, he began using the stage name Yoo Yeon-seok. He took on supporting roles on television, such as the haughty student body president in the horror series Soul and more appealing characters in medical drama Midnight Hospital and Tasty Life. But Yoo received his best reviews yet for playing a sensitive ex-boyfriend searching for his child in indie Re-encounter.

Soon after he became known to mainstream audiences as the rich and spoiled antagonist in the box office hit melodramas Architecture 10, and A Werewolf Boy.

He further raised his profile in 2013, with comedy film Born to Sing and the fantasy series Gu Family Book. Yoo's recently-completed project was the nostalgic campus drama Reply 1994, his first leading role on television. Since Reply 1994, he was signed to star in 4 movies namely, The Informant (Whistle Blower) with Park Hae Il; The Royal Tailor with Han Suk Kyo and Go Soo; Secret Temptation with Im Soo Jung; and The Atmosphere of that Day with Moon Chae Won.

    The Lee family harbored a secret and it was believed that was how they could survive for generation and prospered no matter what the circumstances.The family was the decendant of the nine tailed fox. Once a female familymember reached puberty, she would undergo a ritual to determine if she carried the genes of the nine tailed fox. If she were, she would be 'married off and never see her family again. Lee Myung Ok was the youngest daughter of the family and her curiosity led her to dicover that the marriage was a farce whereas in actual fact, the 'bride' was being sacraficed and killed so the family patriarch could prolong his life feasting on the liver of the nine tailed fox.     Lee Yoon Ho (Jung Il Woo) a motorcycle mania who engages in manyfights at school and is known for his high kick, and Lee Min Ho (Kim Hye Sung),who enjoys spending time on scale models and web blogs, are brothers born ayear apart but attending the same class at school. After going through apremature marriage and early divorce, he enjoys his life back in the datingscene with his half-single and half-married status, while continuing toencounter emotionally-involved moments with his ex-wife Shin Ji (Shin Ji) attimes. Smooth n High Kick! is a situation comedy, which portrays the everydaylives of the main characters colliding with each other in a comical way.However, at a certain point, the surprising mysteries of their seemingly-normalsurrounding characters begin to unravel one by one.

    An unlikely protagonist slinks around in “The Cat,” which follows So-yeon (Park Min-yeong), a pet groomer who suffers from claustrophobia stemming from a childhood experience.
    One day, one of So-yeon’s customersdies on the elevator, leaving her cat Bi-dan behind. The mystery of who killed the woman on the elevator is unknown, and the cat is the only witness. As thepolice begin their investigation, they ask So-yeon to take care of Bi-dan. Bu tsomething strange happens to So-yeon from the day she brings Bi-dan home.
    So-yeon starts having nightmares in which she sees a little girl who keeps coming back to haunt her dreams. Afraid and unsure of what this might mean, So-yeon starts investigating the mystery ofthe cat and the death of its owner when her closest friend, who has alsorecently gotten a cat, dies. The film was invited to participate inthe 64th Cannes Film Festival Film Market, where its distribution rights weresold to three companies in Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.Critics at Cannes said that the movie is scary yet fascinating and ultimately appealing.

    As this is our 5th year (plus 2003/4) at soompi.com, we're setting up a website as a tribute to the international online fans who have continuously shared about Lee Byung Hun so unconditionally over these past years. Despite the setback, restrictions and heartaches along the way, EverythingLBH's ardent sharing never stops no matter what. Because EverythingLBH has never been officially affiliated with LBH, we don't know how Byunghun-ssi will feel about the website but many of us have been waiting since 5 years ago for an international LBH fan club and still waiting. However, we're not sure if we are able to wait another 5 years.. thus why we're doing this now while possible and it's done for the fans in mind. Realistically not going for anything fancy, or flashy nor high-tech trendy but something built from the heart and filling it up with pride being Lee Byung Hun fans we are & always will be.

    Gratitude to taprokh for such diligent and consistent effort in setting up the site for us, right from scratch and making it fans-friendly first & foremost. We hope everyone will also feel the pride & love and no longer be reluctant or embarrassed being a part of EverythingLBH-soompi, now EverythingLBH.com as well. Coincidentally, due to the new soompi site-adjustment the "Everything' at the thread description have been dropped recently which seems like an indicator of some sort that could not have happened at a better time, huh.     Please understand that we only started with the idea end of July after BH's 40th birthday. In a way.. this is like our small gift for the 20th Anniversary.. better late than never, right? There are still really really really a lot to compile and share about LBH which we only have less than 40% posted but EverythingLBH will go on and on, like it always has -- here, where it all started. We could never thank everyone enough for all the unconditional sharing we had since 2003 and hope it will continue on for as long as possible.

    As online fans.. we are obviously not the ones Byunghun often see & meet at the airports, events and gatherings but to us.. he is the person we see, follow, share and talk about every day albeit just on the internet.     Drama synopsis (as written by writer Song Ji Na):

    In the early 1980s, there were five friends who ran an illegal broadcasting station.
    Back then, the world was much simpler.
    It was clear what had to be defended and fought for.
    The way to go forth was like a straight line.
    But reality destroys ideals.
    Time teaches one about betrayal and compromise.

    Now, their children have grown up to their twenties.
    One of them became an agent who steals the secrets of others at night.
    Another is a paparazzi who digs for information about others behind their backs.
    In this damned world left behind by their parents,
    political and societal justice are just unlucky words to them.

    But there is one person who will take them forward. Thanks to him…
    These children now start to harbour the same dreams as their parents.  A dream to become a real reporter.
    But in order to become true reporters, there is a wall that they have to overcome.
    This world that their parents have shaped and left behind for them.

    Will these children be able to become the real reporters that their parents once dreamt of?
    Will they be able to untie the knots of the past and change the world?

    Goo JunPyo is the leader of the F4. At the beginning of the series, he is JanDi's biggest enemy, but as the story progresses, he becomes her love interest.
    JunPyo is one of the heirs of Shinhwa Company, and his family is extremely rich. Junpyo spent much of his childhood on his own; his parents were always overseas, and his older sister--as loving as she could be--was always busy studying and eventually got married. His mother, Kang Hee Soo, is cold to him, and although she loves him, wants to control his life for the sake of preserving the family name. Jandi's retaliation in the hallway sparks JunPyo's interest, and he is immediately attracted to her daring and strength (the traits he used to admire in his older sister). Despite the harassment he puts her through to keep up appearances, he also constantly tries to do things to impress her - such as trying unsuccessfully to straighten his hair after she tells him that she can't stand his curly-top.
    Because he has grown up in luxury and is used to always getting his way, JunPyo is initially not very good at interacting with JanDi. He frequently makes fun of her family's poverty and responds angrily when she refuses to do as he says. As time passes, however, he begins to mature and develop a greater understanding of how to interact positively with others.

    Geum Jandi is the main female character in the drama, Boys Over Flowers, and is one of the very few students at the prestigious Shinhwa University to come from an 'unwealthy' family. She is admitted to that school when she caused an uproar as she tried to saved a student from jumping off the school building.The citizens believe that Shinhwa school does not do any better to the society and bourgeoisie schools should be demolished. To calm the citizens down, JanDi is then admitted to the school. Jandi, being a commoner as she is, does not have friends at school and so she is determined to remain as invisible as possible until graduation. However, she sticks her neck out to defend her friend who accidentally bumps into F4 leader Goo Jun Pyo. The next day, a red tag is found hanging in Jandi's locker, the F4's "declaration of war," officially marking her for future torment from the F4 and the rest of the student body. But, unlike most of the F4's targets, JanDi stands up for herself, showing how strong a 'weed/grass' can be. In this process, she lets her fierce determination and her stubborn, hardworking ways show through, and in the end turns all of the F4 into her friends.
    At first, JanDi hates all of the F4 except Yoon Ji Hoo, (whom she has romantic feelings towards). But, as JiHoo goes off to chase after SeoHyun, JanDi slowly falls in love with the hotheaded leader, JunPyo.

    Flower boy, talented, handsome, swoon-worthy, adorable, cute, dorky are some descriptions fans used to describe this South Korean actor. 

    Lee Min-ho was born on June 22nd, 1987 in Seoul, South Korea. As a child, Min-ho dreamt of becoming a professional soccer player, playing in an arena full of cheering supporters. Like many childhood dreams, however, his was left not entirely fulfilled due to an injury sustained as a child. 

    As he progressed through high school, Min-ho started to consider acting as his true calling. By his final year of high school, he was signed by Starhaus Entertainment. Like many aspiring artists, the starting point to stardom was filled with rocky steps for Lee Min-ho. One major setback occurred in 2006 when he and best friend, Jung Il-woo whom he befriended in high school, were severely injured in a car accident. 

    After almost a year of rehabilitation, Min-ho returned to acting through a school-centric drama, Mackerel Run. This series was his first leading role, and he had high hopes of it becoming successful. Unfortunately, Mackerel Run’s sixteen episodes run was shortened to eight. And the disappointment continued. Between 2007 and 2008, Min-ho continued to act in smaller roles in drama series, I Am Sam and Get Up, and films Public Enemy Returns and Our School E.T.

    His major breakthrough came at the start of 2009 when he was chosen to play the lead Gu Jun Pyo in Boys before Flowers, a Korean adaptation of the famed manga Hana Yori Dango. This role catapulted Min-ho into an overnight star. It’s safe to assume that Lee has made Gu Jun-pyo an iconic character in the fable of Korean dramas. And it is with this role that the name “flower boy” becomes a part of Min-ho’s public lexicon. 

    Aware that Boys before Flowers was a perfect storm of success, Min-ho wanted to build upon his acting craft by portraying different characters. In the Spring of 2010, he took the challenge of playing a perfectionist architect, Jeon Jin-ho, in the romantic comedy, Personal Taste, starring opposite Son Ye-jin. After gaining further acting growth in this romantic comedy, Min-ho followed a different character path by choosing to act as a playboy turned heroic vigilante, Lee Yoon-sung, in a Korean City Hunter manga adaptation. After the success of City Hunter, Min-ho’s next acting endeavor was in the time-travel fusion sageuk, Faith, as General Choi Young.

    Lee Min-ho’s major career breakthrough in 2009 has also attracted a legion of fans, affectionately called Minoz. Since then, he has held numerous fan-meetings and endorsed many products throughout East Asia, in part as a vehicle to maintain and deepen his relationship with the fans. His most recent interaction with Minoz was through the release of his very first album, My Everything, and a recently completed tour in eight metropolitan cities around East Asia. 

    In the Fall of 2013, Min-ho returned to the small screen in He Who Wears the Crown, Bears its Weight -- The Heirs. In this series, he portrayed the lead Kim Tan, an emotionally wounded upper class teenage heir yearning for reasons to heal and live through love and friendship formed within the circle of high society. After the Heirs, Min-ho's next role will be in the film, 강남 1970 (Gangnam Blues), written and directed by Yoo-ha. This movie will open on January 21st, 2015 domestically, followed by pan-Asia releases shortly after.

    From a struggling actor to an overnight star, Lee Min-ho has since been solidifying himself as a leading man and serenading fans all over Asia and the world. He has come along way from that young boy who had a dream of becoming a professional footballer, displaying his skill and talent in a field of adoring home fans and fearful away supporters. But one remnant of that childhood dream is fulfilled -- he has created many spectacles in front of entertaining audiences. Just in a different field -- a stage with lights and cameras.     Storyline/Synopsis :
